Innaugural Founder's Award medallions were presented to Robert Pritzker and Audrey Ratner—parents of Museum & Library founder Jennifer N. Pritzker—and retired Marine Corps colonel Robert C. Peithman for their outstanding support of the organization.
Robert C. Peithmanwas an early supporter of the Museum & Library. In 2005, he donated his collection of more than 1,450 books, 4 linear feet of personal papers, and related items focused on the Marine Corps and its history. Peithman joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served 10 years of active duty plus an additional 18 on reserve duty achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his time in the reserves, Peithman served as a recruiter for the United States Marine Corps. In honor of his extraordinary gift to the Pritzker Military Museum & Library collection, he received the very first Founder's Medallion.
Founder's Medallions were also presented to Robert A. Pritzker and Audrey Ratner—parents of Museum & Library Founder and Chair COL (IL) Jennifer N. Pritzker, IL ARNG (Ret.). In presentation remarks, COL Pritzker acknowledged the influence and support of Robert and Audrey, crediting them with instilling the importance of reading and preserving a collection.
