2007 Founder's Award: McCormick Foundation
Chicago's McCormick Foundation received the Founder's Award in 2007 for support of the Pritzker Military Museum & Library's mission with particular emphasis on public programming.
The philanthropic work of the McCormick Foundation has supported cultural and artistic endeavors throughout Chicago for more than 50 years. The McCormick Foundation was a Presenting Sponsor of the public programs on military history for live, Internet and broadcast audiences at the Pritzker Military Museum & Library for four years.
The McCormick Foundation strengthens our free, democratic society by investing in children, communities, and country. Through its five grantmaking programs, Cantigny Park and Golf, and three world-class museums, the Foundation helps to build a more active and engaged citizenry. The Foundation was established as a charitable trust in 1955, upon the death of Colonel Robert R. McCormick, the long-time editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune. Today, their impact is stronger than ever, with recent campaigns such as Neighbors in Need 08, helping victims of the recent Midwestern floods, and Welcome Back Veterans, dedicated to raising public awareness about the issues facing citizen soldiers from Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.
