Bougainville, 1943-1945: The Forgotten Campaign

Bougainville was a bitter campaign that was still being fought when the war in the Pacific finally ended. Pictured top right is a glimpse into the ferocity of the fighting, an area devastated by artillery fire where members of Companies E and G of the 2nd Battalion, 132nd Regiment crossed a small stream.
