Citizen Soldier: Repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell: A Conversation With One Marine
A recent poll by ABC News shows that 78% of those polled agree with the recent decision to repeal "Don't Ask Don't Tell". That's up 20% from a survey in the fall of 2010. In this program we'll take a look at the history of this policy, how its impact has changed the lives of servicemen and servicewomen and what's coming up in the months ahead.
Jay Clark enlisted at 17 and joined the Marines a year later in 1993. Jay served for 6 years with an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps Reserve at the rank of Lance Corporal. He graduated from North East Missouri State, now known as Truman State, and has earned a B.S. in political science and a B.A. and Masters in English. Since 2004 he has served as a director for a manufacturing company.
Dr. John Allen Williams is professor of political science at Loyola University, Chicago. He is Chair and President of the Inner University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society, and is editor of The National Strategy forum review. He is on the Board of Directors at the Pritzker Military Museum & Library and is Co-Organizer and past President of the International Security and Arms Control Section of the American Captain in the United States Navy Reserve.
