World War Two Victory Medal
The World War II Victory Medal was authorized on July 6, 1945 for members of the United States Armed Forces who, like Edward Drenka, served on active duty at any time between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946.
The front shows the figure of Liberation, her right foot resting on a war god’s helmet with the hilt of a broken sword in her right hand and a broken blade in her left. On the reverse are the phrases, “Freedom from Fear and Want,” “Freedom of Speech and Religion,” and “United States of America 1941-1945.”
