In Somalia, as part of Operation RESTORE HOPE, SEALs performed classic UDT duties on the beaches off of Mogadishu, measuring water depth and examining the beach for obstacles in advance of an amphibious assault by the Marines.
On land, SEALs provided the Marines with sniper support and conducted joint training operations. In October of 1993, four SEALs fought as part of Task Force Ranger in the Battle of Mogadishu.
