- Biographical/Historical:
- Propaganda posters such as this were designed to entice young male civilians to enlist in the military. In 1914, the British military consisted of professional soldiers, creating a need to enlist civilians for temporary service during times of war. This poster was the last propaganda poster created and used in the recruitment campaign. When it was manufactured, enlistment numbers were down and the government switched to conscription. Despite the change, posters like this one were still used to encourage men to enlist before they were conscripted into the military.
