Thomas Zipprich, Lieutenant (junior grade)

U.S. Navy veteran Thomas Zipprich is honored for his service by Sue Zipprich. 

Commissioned an Ensign, in 1962, after completing OCS. Assigned to USS Surfbird (ADG-383), as Communications / Operations Officer, home ported in Sasebo, Japan. Operated through much of the Western Pacific as a degaussing ship, servicing the Navy’s of Japan, Korea, ROC, Philippians and South Vietnam. In 1965 the Surfbird was assigned patrol duty with "Operation Market Time" off the coast of Vietnam.
