COVID-19 Response

The Museum & Library opens in accordance with Governor Prtizker's latest directives for the state of Illinois.

Starting January 22, 2021, the Pritzker Military Museum & Library will safely welcome visitors back to our 2nd and 3rd floor Museum & Library space to continue their exploration of military history through Library Express Services, exhibit visits, and reference appointments.

With Governor Pritzker’s latest directives for the state of Illinois, the Museum & Library will open to its usual hours starting January 22, 2021. 

As we transition back to work we will continue to make good on our mission of furthering the understanding of military history and affairs, while staying safe.

The safety of our community and staff is our number one priority. In adhering to governmental guidelines, the Pritzker Military Museum & Library will be implementing safety measures to protect those in our space and the community at large. The following protocols will be implemented:

  • Masks are mandatory when entering the Monroe Building
  • Our facility will maintain cleanliness and social distancing
  • Entrance and exit protocols will be in effect to adhere to social distancing
  • The 3rd floor will be available by appointment only
  • Food and beverage will not be allowed in the space
  • Library Express Services will be offered to members only 
  • Virtual services will be maintained

 With this new directive, the Museum & Library’s operations will be the following:

Hours of Operation (Tuesday - Saturday):

  • The Museum & Library will open to the public with its usual hours of 10am-4pm CT.
  • The 2nd floor will be open to the public and will feature our recent exhibit, The Allied Race to Victory.
  • The 3rd floor will be open for reference and research appointments. Please email the Library Service team to request an appointment to come in.
  • Borrowing periods will be extended and Inter-Library Loan and E-Books will still be available.

Reference and Research opportunities (Tuesday - Saturday):

Interested in conducting research? Want to spend some time reading up on your favorite military topic? Make an appointment today for your 3-hour block of time for either research or reference purposes. Email librarian@pritzkermilitary.org to reserve your space and materials today!

Express Library Services (Available during hours of operation):

  • Library Express Services affords individuals the opportunity to begin picking up or returning their book(s) at their convenience. If you're interested in picking up a new book or returning your book, please email the Library Service team and a staff member will pull your book for you. Once you receive a confirmation email, your books will be held for 3 days. We will offer curbside pick-up and drop-off for you to receive and give back your items.
  • Borrowing periods will be extended and Inter-Library Loan and E-Books will still be available.
